ZOOM! Whitening: Results in an Hour
ZOOM! Whitening is a tooth whitening miracle. It allows you to have dramatically whiter teeth in an hour.
In the ZOOM! Whitening process, we first cover your gums and other soft tissue and isolate the teeth. The whitening compound is then placed on your teeth, and a special light catalyst is used to accelerate and increase the power of the whitening compound. As the whitening compound become depleted from destroying stain molecules, after about 15 minutes, new whitening compound is applied. This is repeated four times to give you your final results: dramatically whiter teeth in an hour.
Dentist-Strength Take-Home Teeth Whitening
For people who prefer a more gradual approach to teeth whitening or want to improve or maintain the results of in-office whitening, we offer take-home whitening trays. These trays will allow you to achieve maximum whiteness in your smile, but the results take several weeks to complete.
These trays are better than the teeth whitening trays or strips you may see at the chemist’s. First, we are able to use stronger whitening compounds than can be sold to you directly. Second, the improved fit of the custom tray we make for you helps several ways. It protects your gums from getting whitening compound on them. It also protects the whitening compound from your saliva–which can neutralize it quickly (2 minutes or less)—so the whitening compound stays active longer. Finally, the custom-fitted trays ensure even whitening, unlike strips or poorly-fitting trays, which can leave dark spots on your teeth.
Your Whitening Results Depend on the Type of Staining
Teeth whitening is a very effective cosmetic dentistry procedure, but it is limited in its effectiveness against certain types of stains. Teeth whitening is very effective against most types of surface stains, such as:
- Stains from food like berries and chocolate
- Stains from drink like coffee, tea, cola, red wine, or dark beer
- Stains from smoking
However, teeth whitening is not very effective against internal stains that are due to a damaged tooth or developmental problems in the enamel. Teeth whitening is also limited by the thickness and inherent whiteness of your tooth enamel—some people have whiter enamel than others.
If you are unhappy with the maximum whiteness achieved by teeth whitening, there are other options we can discuss, like porcelain veneers.
