How Does it Work?
STEP ONE:
Consultation & Scans
We’ll talk about your implant goals, then take a comprehensive suite of scans that allows us to construct a detailed 3D model of your teeth.
STEP TWO:
Create a Surgical Plan
Using the 3D model, we will analyze possible surgical plans and test each one in a series of mock surgeries to determine the optimal surgical approach for you.
STEP THREE:
3D Print Surgical Guide
We will use a CAD/CAM system to 3D print a surgical guide based on your optimal surgical plan. The surgical guide ensures a safe, accurate, and fast surgery.
STEP FOUR:
Place the Implant
We will place your dental implants in as little as fifteen minutes with no-incision surgery. You can get customized abutments and/or temporary teeth right away.
The Digital Difference
Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that fully performs all the functions of your natural teeth. They:
- Are completely natural in appearance
- Look very attractive
- Allow you to eat all the foods you enjoy now
- Require no special care—just brush, floss, and make regular dental visits
- Don’t depend on your natural teeth for support
- Can last a lifetime with proper care—30+ years of proven life, although the crown may need to be replaced
They are the only tooth replacement option that offers all the above benefits.
Benefits of Digital Dental Implants
Traditional dental implants definitely have many benefits, but with digital dental implants you can get the same benefits with a more streamlined procedure that gives you a better experience. The benefits of the new digital dental implant procedure include:
- Shorter implant procedure (as little as 15 minutes)
- Get your replacement tooth faster
- More comfortable process
- Fewer visits to the dentist
- Excellent occlusion
- Greater accuracy and stability
With our new digital planning process, we can use mock surgery to optimize your procedure before you come in for surgery. This allows us to complete the procedure in as little as 15 minutes, compared to 130 minutes or more for traditional planning techniques.
And with digital dental implants, you’re more likely to get your replacement much faster! On average, people with digital dental implants get their temporaries after 5-7 days, compared to 123 days for traditional implant procedures. This way, you are not without teeth as we prepare your permanent restoration!
The procedure is also more comfortable. You don’t have to get physical impressions made–no biting down into a tray of goo–and the surgery is optimized to be as smooth as possible. There are no incisions and no need for stitches.
Because we can do so much of the procedure based on our digital models without you in the office, you can get your dental implants placed in as few as three visits, compared to seven visits or more for some traditional processes.
The simulation process for this system works for the crowns as well as the implant. It allows us to plan for optimal occlusion as we’re planning the implant placement. Optimizing the crown at the time we’re working on the implant root ensures that all components work together for excellent occlusion and stability.
With the digital scanning, planning, and manufacturing of a surgical guide, we are able to achieve an amazing accuracy with our dental implants. This fourth generation digital implant system allows us to place them with a deviation of just 0.9 °–other systems produce three times the deviation or more!
How Dental Implants Work
Dental implants work like your natural teeth because they are made like your natural teeth. They are composed of a titanium root and a cosmetic ceramic crown.
The root is placed in your jawbone. Titanium is used because it is biocompatible — not only is it non-toxic, but it can actually be incorporated into your jawbone! Then the root is topped with an advanced ceramic crown. This crown not only mimics the colour and lustre of your natural teeth, it is very strong, capable of withstanding your biting force. If you are looking to replace an entire arch of teeth, one great option is Prettau implant bridges, which combine tremendous strength and a beautiful, natural appearance.
Because dental implants are set into your jawbone, you may not be a candidate for dental implants if you have experienced a loss of jawbone material because of periodontal disease or other health conditions. However, we can talk about a bone graft or other tooth replacement options such as the Denture Fountain of Youth™.
An Implant Dentist with a Difference
There are many dentists who advertise that they do dental implants. However, if you investigate, you will find that most of them don’t actually do the entire dental implant procedure. You will likely be referred to a specialist, such as a periodontist or oral surgeon, to have the dental implant placed. The dentist will then put the crown on top of the dental implant.
At My Hills Dentist in Sydney, we’re different: our implant dentists are capable of performing the entire dental implant procedure. This means you will get continuity of care: with one dentist from start to finish the procedure will have complete consistency in planning and execution. It also means you don’t have to make visits with another dentist who may not be as convenient, and it may reduce the number of visits you need to complete the procedure. Finally, it means you will have your dental implant procedure performed by the dentist you choose, not the dentist your dentist chooses.
